Stockholm Syndrome Conclusion

Title: Stockholm Syndrome: Conclusion
Author: onthethruway01
Genre: violence, revenge, angst
Rating: pg
A/N: sorry this took so long.  I’ve been sick and experiencing computer issues

The silence of the night was broken by the sound of five men fighting in a secluded alley way.  Grunts and groans echoed off of brick walls; puddles splashed as feet stomped and bodies collided.  Wood met flesh and bone; blood splattered and bones cracked.  He did his best to defend himself, but the only weapons Park Yoochun had were his fists and his brain.  Against four men with baseball bats, he didn’t stand a chance. A blow sent him reeling and he fell; the hits continued and all he could do was pray.  As they continued to beat him deft fingers somehow managed to reach his cell phone; buried in his pocket and still intact, he pressed a button that he prayed would bring him help.

“Hello?  Hello?”

The voice on the other line was muffled, but the receiver could hear the sounds which filled the secluded alley way.

“Oh my God.”

Not waiting for a response, the receiver of the call ran at breakneck speed through the Kim mansion to the garage, not caring if the whole household woke up.  A car was taken and sped out into the night.

The police dispatcher answered the priority call immediately.

“This is Ahn,” the voice on the line said.  “Send backup and an ambulance to this address now; my informant is being murdered.  Do it now.”

A small, portable police light and siren were turned on as undercover detective Ahn, drove to rescue Park Yoochun.

He arrived just in time; the thugs unable to escape as he drew his gun and told them to freeze.  They dropped their bats and put their hands up.

The club owner was silent.

A squad car arrived; they took over for Detective Ahn who rushed to Yoochun’s side.  He gently lifted the younger man’s head.

Eyes fluttered open.

“What took you so long?”

The club owner smiled despite his pain.  Blood trickled from his nose; metallic taste filling his mouth.  He coughed violently and grimaced.

“An ambulance is on its way,” Ahn whispered; he gently wiped the blood from the younger man’s face.”

“My keys; the papers.  See it through Ahn.  Finish it.”

The eyelids fluttered again; head slumping to one side.

“No, Yoochun.  Stay with me; stay with me…”

Kim Junsu walked up to the open grave and tossed a few flowers on the casket.  He stood silent as it was lowered into the ground; dirt shoveled on top of it; he flinched and stepped backwards.  The crowd dispersed; but Junsu remained until the workmen were finished.  His mother took his hand and whispered in his ear.

“Come Junsu.  Let’s go home.”

Not far away, another man stood before a simple grave.

“It’s done my friend, rest in peace.”

Detective Ahn walked away from the grave of Kim Junsu’s real father; the cop who died protecting Park Yoochun and his mother; his partner and his best friend.    He acknowledged Junsu’s mother who nodded in reply.

They had made a pretty good team. No one would have suspected that the well mannered socialite and her chauffer would bring about the downfall of the wealthiest businessman in town.

Ahn went undercover; he was a good cop and knew he would need help and plenty of evidence to convict Kim.   Junsu’s mother took time and persuasion to come over to Ahn’s side.  But on that fateful day, when she met the young man who bore an uncanny resemblance to her dead sister, she knew which path to follow.

Her husband had used Yoochun’s mother and threw her out in favor of her younger sister.  It was madness!  Why Kim chose one sibling over the other made no sense. The sisters drifted apart; Kim making it impossible for them to meet.  Desperate and alone, Yoochun’s mother sought the help of the police; but they were as corrupt as Mr. Kim.  Only Junsu’s father and his partner Ahn, could be trusted.  Ahn had always felt responsible somehow for the death of his partner; they were never apart; but on that one evening when Ahn was called away, his partner was killed.  From that moment on, Detective Ahn was a man on a mission.

Like an unholy trinity, the cop, the aunt and the forgotten son gathered documents, ledgers, and all the dirt they could find.  They uncovered the trails which had previously led to nowhere; evidence lost or stolen by bad cops, judges, lawyers and other corrupt men whose pockets had been lined by Mr. Kim and his blood money.  Together, they would bring down the monster that had destroyed their lives.

Rain tapped upon the window in his room, waking him from his sleep.  Something was amiss.  Groaning he adjusted himself and stared.

Hands swollen and wrapped in bandages somehow gripped the newspaper which someone had placed upon his lap. Although his eyes were painfully swollen, he managed to read the headlines.

Wealthy business man dead in apparent suicide after he was implicated in the death of
police officer and other crimes.

Despite his pain, Park Yoochun smiled.
